F.A.Q.

Some Dutch graves or cemeteries do not seem at all like they are from the Dutch, how come?

The Dutch were initially buried under simple tombstones, as was buried in churches in the Netherlands. In many locations, the Dutch adapted (or were even prescribed) how to bury and which monuments could appear on the graves. Usually also with the use of local craftsmen. In countries and regions where there was mainly an indigenous population, material was imported from the Netherlands or a neighboring country. In general it can be said that the circumstances determined what the funerary monuments looked like.
